While Walking through the woods this morning this bird peaked around and caught my interest. This was the first time I have been so close to a wood pecker to see it with such clarity.
Pretty cool bird with an exceptional yellow streak of feathers highlighting the under-wing.
I found they primarily feed on ants and beetles while foraging on the ground. Its noted their tongue is long, sticky and barbed.
